The Launch
8-Bit was my first rocket — a low-powered launch with the New South Wales Rocketry Association (NSWRA). It flew on a C6-5 motor, and it was the first time I learned the full process of prepping and launching a rocket: assembling the motor, packing the recovery wadding, setting up on the rail, and hitting the button.
What I Learned
There’s a big gap between reading about rocketry and actually doing it. This launch taught me the fundamentals — motor classification, safe launch procedures, and recovery systems. It’s what got me hooked and eventually led to the high-power avionics work with UTS Rocketry.
