The Problem
Our operational security team spent significant time manually answering repetitive customer inquiries about BlackDuck and Fortify — two key application security tools. The same questions came up repeatedly, and domain expertise was bottlenecked in a small team.
What I Built
Built an MVP bot that auto-replied to customer inquiries using domain-specific knowledge about BlackDuck and Fortify. The bot understood the tools’ specific terminology, common issues, and recommended workflows — reducing the load on the operational team.
What I Learned
The key to winning wasn’t model sophistication — it was context engineering. Getting the right domain knowledge into the prompt context made a generic LLM feel like a security expert. Took 1st place in the company-wide AI Hackathon at Macquarie.
