The Problem
Research across multiple sources is fragmented — browser tabs, PDFs, papers, random notes. Built a local-first notebook app that uses AI to help synthesize and connect research notes.

What I Learned
The key insight was that AI is most useful for research when it can see your existing notes as context — not just answer generic questions. The retrieval layer (finding relevant existing notes) matters more than the generation quality.
